Kapitel 2-

Lektion A-

Learn the vocabulary on p. 34.These are all family members. Remember that all the male family members are "der" and all the female family members are "die".

To form a question, just switch the subject and verb. We do the same thing in English: You do..........Do you?
..........Example: Du kommst aus Frankfurt................Kommst du aus Frankfurt?
There are also question words like we have in English: wer (who), was (what), wann (when), wo (where), wie (how), warum (why), wie viel (how much)
........... Be careful not to confuse wo with the English word, "who" and wer with the English word "where". It's exactly opposite to the way it sounds.

Lektion B

Learn the vocabulary on p.44. This concerns telling time.

Babble.com will help with this, also.

Remember that O'clock is "Uhr"
.......................after the hour (:01-:29) is "nach"
.......................thirty, or half past the hour is "halb" and then you use the hour plus one. If it's 2:30, you say it's "halb drei" (halfway to 3:00)
.......................before the hour (:31-:59) is "vor". You need to use the hour plus one for this expression, also. If it's 2:40, you say it's "zwanzig vor drei" (20 before ................................3:00)
.......................a quarter after is "Viertel nach", and a quarter before the hour is "Viertel vor".
